Villa Saigon

We are delighted to announce that Anne-Sophie Liban and Matthias Fortune are the winners of the Villa Saigon artist residency program run by the Institut français du Vietnam.

Villa Saigon is a residency program open to artists or groups of French nationality or residing in France, of all disciplines, professionally involved in contemporary creation, and with a project involving Vietnam.

They follow in the footsteps of Caroline Guiela Nguyen, Marine Bachelot Nguyen, Léna Paugam, Thomas Andrea Barbey and many others. They will share the villa with Jean Houzard, Louise Lan Millot and Ilana Pichon.

For several years, Anne-Sophie and Matthias have been exploring Southeast Asia with the dream of one day working there. Today, that dream is coming true. With their project "Femmes et Vovinam Việt Võ Đạo", they share the story of their encounter with Danièle Thiều Thị Tân, master of Việt Võ Đạo, historian and former inmate of the Poulo Condor penal colony during the darkest hours of the Vietnam War. With this encounter, Matthias and Anne-Sophie continue their research around martial arts and the body experienced as a vector of emancipation and resilience. After this first stage of creation in Ho Chi Minh City, the show will continue its journey in France over the coming season.
