PRESENTATION AND TEAM

the blue lobster

When its hard shell becomes too cramped, the lobster moults. The strange and precious crustacean gets rid of its shell, becomes a fragile mollusc for a while, and takes the time needed to build a new shell.

Today's injunction is to be efficient, profitable and effective at all times. Chase away any sign of weakness! Let's take a look at the wisdom of the lobster. It teaches us to see our vulnerability as a strength. It reminds us that change is often stimulated by discomfort. Fear and anxiety are not to be eradicated, they are an invitation to transfigure ourselves, to mature in the rhythm of life's cycles, and - no matter how hard our shells may be - to retain our inner tenderness.

our story

Founded in 2016 in the Drôme region, Compagnie Homard Bleu produces shows that range from classical repertoire to contemporary writing. With an often offbeat approach, it explores themes such as social violence, relationships, childhood and liberation through the expression of the body.

In addition to its participation in
film productions, the company is committed to a process of transmission by organizing the F.A.T. Festival until 2023, as well as through mediation initiatives in France and abroad.

The creation of the company Homard Bleu, comes from the meeting of three young artists : Matthias Fortune, Ivan Herbez and Anne-Sophie Liban. Their collaboration and communicative energy first led them to get involved in the creation of a popular theater festival in the Drôme : Le F.A.T. Festival, or "Foule au Théâtre" Festival.
With the support of the town of Taulignan, they became the festival's artistic directors. Today, the festival is subsidized by the Drôme department, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region and the DRAC. The F.A.T. Festival has become a major event on the regional scene (with some sixty volunteers involved in its organization and over fifty professional artists employed each year).

The company also creates and distributes shows. In 2015, it created and performed a rejuvenated version of Molière's Bourgeois Gentilhomme, directed by Matthias Fortune. After the show's success at the Théâtre Lepic in Paris, they take it to the Festival OFF d'Avignon at the Théâtre du Roi René. With this new success, the show goes on tour (73 performances).

In 2016, Ivan Herbez and Matthias Fortune created Le Mariage Forcé de George Dandin based on two plays by Molière, set for the occasion in America ravaged by the Great Depression. The show premiered at the 2nd edition of the F.A.T. Festival, then revived at the Théâtre Lepic.

The following season, the company presented two new creations : Trois Ruptures by Rémi De Vos, staged and performed by Ivan Herbez and Eurydice El-Etr at the Studio Théâtre d'Asnières and Théâtre de Belleville (Paris), and Il faut qu'une porte soit ouverte ou fermée by Alfred de Musset, staged and performed by Anne-Sophie Liban and Matthias Fortune at Théâtre Lepic, Théâtre du Lucernaire and Théâtre des Barriques during the Festival OFF d'Avignon 2019. This show was eligible for the Molières 2019 and is currently on tour (154 performances.)

Today, they have decided to put the F.A.T. festival on indefinite hold to devote themselves fully to their creative, writing and directing activities (theater, audiovisual and projects abroad).

The company began to open up to new contemporary forms, with the creation of Amedeo, l'énigme Modigliani, an original work by Matthias Fortune and Erika Guillouzouic.

Since its creation, the company has produced and toured shows exploring various registers - comedy, absurdism - ranging from the classical repertoire to contemporary writing. Themes addressed, often in an offbeat register, include the violence of social relationships, the couple, feminism, artistic freedom and the body as a vehicle for liberation.

This summer, "Au nom du Père, du Fils, et de Jackie Chan" (In the name of the Father, the Son and Jackie Chan), which was first performed at Les Rencontres de Theizé - Théâtre en Pierres Dorées (69) at the F.A.T. Festival in Taulignan and several residency outings in Paris, will premiere at the Festival Off Avignon 2024 at the Théâtre Artéphile (performed daily at 4:25pm, from July 1 to 21). New partners and a promising follow-up are in store for this show, which speaks of childhood(ren) and mental health, invites us to a father-son reconciliation, paints the portrait of a truly atypical family and offers a tribute to kung-fu cinema experienced as a bandage for the soul.

Last November, the company organized the first exploration and creation residency for its future show for young audiences : "Ingmar et Grenadine". This show, written and directed by Anne-Sophie Liban, will explore the rich themes of storytelling from a new angle, tackling the subject of ordinary educational violence and child emancipation. Currently seeking partners, the show is scheduled for the 2025/26 season.

Finally, for several years, Anne-Sophie and Matthias have been exploring Southeast Asia with the dream of one day working there. Today, this dream has become a reality, as they are the lucky winners of the Villa Saigon, an artist residency program supported by the Institut Français du Vietnam. Their research project, "Women and Vovinam", revolves around the martial arts and the body as a vector of emancipation and resilience.
